  • About Me

  • My name is Tim. If there is one thing I've learned, it's that I dislike writing about myself. Because of that, you can find me behind the camera, hiking through the woods, reading, meditating and feeding my curiosity by studying a whole host of other subjects. Thanks for stopping by.

Bold Coast Trail

Posted On May 11, 2014

The Bold Coast Trail is one of Maine’s best kept secrets.  It has all the beauty of Bar Harbor without any of the crowds.  The trail is located in the Cutler Coast Public Reserve in Cutler, ME and is around a 4 hour drive from Portland.  Because its so far away from everything it has remained relatively unnoticed and therefore the foot traffic is minimal.  The trail stretches 5 miles along the coast and is unbelievably scenic.  There are three back-country sites at the end of the 5 mile loop that are all first come first serve.  The challenge with this hike is the water supply is non existent so everything needs to be carried in.   The Bold Coast Trail is definitely one of my top three hikes in Maine.

(This trip was done before I really started taking pictures with the intent of telling a story. Both times I have hiked it the weather has been crap.  There is a lot I didn’t capture that I think would help convey just how beautiful this place is.  Guess I’ll have to return…..)
