The time was right for a hike up Mount Kearsarge North. I had been thinking about this summit for a while, having seen pictures of people camping in the fire tower I knew I wanted to check it out. Its rare to see a summit with a closed in fire tower, they almost don’t exist.
I never checked the weather before I left the house at 5:00 am. I just wanted to get out for a hike and didn’t really care if it was cloudy or wet. Well, it turned out to be both. Sitting in the fire tower by myself completely socked in by clouds with nothing but a gentle breeze was incredibly peaceful. I crave this type of setting. Distractions are reduced to a minimum and the ambience of the surrounding environment is allowed to seep in. After 15 minutes of mediation I made my way down the mountain. Slow, intentional and happy!
