Hedgehog Mountain is the lowest elevation peak on the New Hampshire 52 with a total distance of only 4.9 miles. Since I was carrying Sam on my back I wanted to do a hike that was moderate but still a good workout. With endless options in the White Mountain National Forest this hike in particular fit the bill perfectly.
We took the UNH Trail from the parking lot all the way to the summit. From there it looped around the south-side of the summit and crossed a series of ledges before connecting back to the trail intersection. I would consider Hedgehog Mountain to be a relatively easy hike with ample opportunities for views, especially on the ledges.
